Quran Scroll is a Quran reader for iPhone. It has no accounts and no sign-in. Your reading, saved ayahs, plans and settings stay on your device. The only data that leaves your phone is what the ad-measurement, subscription and optional recitation and AI services described below need to work.
This policy explains what the Quran Scroll app ("the app", "we", "us") collects, why, who it is shared with, and the choices you have. It applies to the iOS app distributed through the Apple App Store.
You do not create an account to use Quran Scroll, and we never ask for your name, email address, phone number or password. We do not operate our own servers that store information about you.
The app keeps the following on your phone so it can remember where you are:
This information is stored locally in the app's storage. It is not uploaded to us. Deleting the app, or using Reset app in the Menu tab, removes it.
The app includes software from three companies. Each receives a limited amount of technical data directly from your device.
We advertise Quran Scroll on Meta's platforms (Facebook and Instagram). To measure whether those ads work, the app includes the Facebook SDK, which sends app events to Meta Platforms, Inc.:
Meta uses this data to attribute installs and purchases to ad campaigns and, where you have allowed tracking, for its own advertising purposes as described in the Meta Privacy Policy. We do not send Meta anything about what you read in the Quran, what you save, or your plans.
Subscription screens ("paywalls"), free-trial offers and the restore-purchases flow are provided by Superwall (Superwall, Inc.). The Superwall SDK sends Superwall an anonymous app-user identifier it generates, your device model and OS version, app version, language and region, which paywalls you saw, and the outcome of each purchase, trial and restore so your subscription status can be checked. Superwall does not receive your name, email or payment details. See the Superwall Privacy Policy.
All purchases are made through Apple's App Store using your Apple Account. Apple processes the payment and holds your billing information; we never see your card number. Apple also provides the in-app review prompt and the App Tracking Transparency prompt. Apple's handling of this data is described in the Apple Privacy Policy.
The app is built with Expo and may check Expo's update service (Expo, Inc.) for small over-the-air updates when it launches. That request includes the platform, app and runtime version, and no personal information. See the Expo Privacy Policy.
If you turn on recitation in the reader, the app streams each ayah's audio from the Islamic Network audio service (cdn.islamic.network). Like any web request, this sends that service your IP address and which ayah's audio file is being requested. Recitation is off until you turn it on, and nothing else is sent.
If you subscribe to Pro and tap “Why this ayah for me?”, the app first asks for your permission. If you agree, what you typed and the ayah are sent through our server and OpenRouter, Inc. to Anthropic PBC, whose Claude AI model writes the explanation. We do not store this text on our server or link it to you. OpenRouter and Anthropic handle it under their own privacy policies: OpenRouter and Anthropic. Please do not include names or private details. Explanations are written by AI and are not religious rulings. Nothing is sent if you do not use this feature, and messages the app recognizes as being about self-harm or abuse are never sent.
If you allow notifications, the app schedules a heads-up before your free trial ends and a daily reading reminder. These are local notifications created on your device. We do not run a push-notification server and do not collect notification tokens. You can turn notifications off at any time in iOS Settings.
Data stored on your device stays until you reset or delete the app. Event data sent to Meta and Superwall is retained by those companies according to their own policies; we do not keep a separate copy.
Quran Scroll is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided personal data through the app, contact us and we will help remove it.
Meta, Superwall and Apple may process the data described above in the United States and other countries. Where required, those companies rely on their own legal safeguards for international transfers.
If we change what the app collects, we will update this page and the effective date above. Material changes will also be noted in the app's App Store release notes.
